For many writers out there, they consider themselves as writers of different genres and different styles. Some of which are well-known while other writing styles remain unknown to a lot of people.
Creative writing today has shifted definition from what it used to be in the past. A long while ago, it has been used as a term for writing fiction and poetry but now creative writing is now vaguely termed as writing all categories especially those topics that grab the attention of readers and topics that are hard to write.
Copy writing is defined as market writing these days. That is the new label for that type of work. Writers usually write about topics that promote a product or usually give praise to the topic they want to discuss for the reader to accept. They are usually used to promote the product and have the people buy the product after hearing and reading about it.
The word copy should not be understood as something that is used to copy things from other writers. There is a lot of misunderstanding when the term copywriter is used. It is defined as someone who writes promotional materials and not the person who copies someone’s articles.
Technical writers are usually partnered with copywriters. There are times when a technical writer also becomes a copywriter and vice versa. It is because technical writers write about the product in an informative manner without marketing the product. It is all about information and facts. They describe what the product is all about and what the product does.
Factual writing is more like journalism when you really think about it. As the word itself already defines what type of writing is concerned. Fact is the basis for writing and nothing more.
These are just a few of the known categories that people tend to write about every day. They fall under these categories. But there are also other writers that fall under all categories while others are not in either all of those. Writers that write about statements and letters do not fall under such categories.
There should be an appropriate category for such writing. It should be called personal writing as it does not involve selling a product or describing it. It still entails facts but on a personal basis such as writing letters or even bios and personal statements.
